Putting Words Into Action

On April 13, 2021 we hosted a "Day of Understanding" where employees learned about unconsious bias and how to recognize  them.  It was a great opportunity for us to share our personal experiences and how we were affected by those situations.

What our employees are saying

"Vi is a friendly and welcoming place to work that is very diverse. Everyone’s opinions are always valued; this was the case even when I was a part-time apprentice. I always feel comfortable reaching out to my co-workers and management for assistance when I run into challenges. Vi also provides many learning opportunities, including ways to improve teamwork and understand our strengths. I’ve enjoyed my time at Vi and look forward to the work ahead."

“Very inclusive of all types of people, they make it feel like a global family and celebrate our diversity. Vi is seriously committed to equality and happiness of staff and residents. Pay, PTO, and benefits are generous and show their care for staff. Ongoing changes due to Covid-19, though stressful have been implemented as smoothly as possible and the health of staff has been placed as the highest priority over productivity and money. Employees seem relaxed, content and are here for the long run.”

“The first time I came into the office I was so nervous and excited, but the welcoming environment coming from the front desk helped calm my nerves quite a bit.  I was welcomed by everyone we passed and I got to meet the employees in each department.  The amount of instruction and help that I got professionally was tremendous. I learned so much with regards to project management and technical skills.  These are things that I still use to this day and will be using for the rest of my career. I definitely recommend anyone who is interested to see the great and welcoming environment here at Vi.”

“The company recognizes changes in our culture and diversity and educates and welcomes the change.  The excellent way that Vi communicates to the employees about COVID-19 and how Vi would adapt and work through the Pandemic was inclusive and done with collaboration from the Cooperate office to all the employees.  This made everyone proud to be part of the Vi.

“Vi provides AMAZING educational resources for leadership that are then disseminated to all levels of staff. We have enjoyed lectures by top experts and inspirational speakers on topics if the Science Behind the Civil vaccines, to Resilience in the Face of Adversity, to Identifying Your Unconscious Bias. These resources not only provided support to staff and leaders during the difficult year, but also created an informed staffing body who could make educated decisions that impacted their health, wellbeing, and working relationships. Kudos on great education!

"Vi is committed to being a Great Place to Work for all employees. We know that by leveraging the different backgrounds, experiences and life challenges of every team member, regardless of their role, we benefit by creating a culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging, valued and heard by respecting one another regardless of race, ethnicity, age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, religious or socioeconomic background."

"One of the biggest reasons and why I'm so excited about being the chief diversity officer here at Vi is creating opportunities for individuals, whether it's helping to create a career path for a CNA to become a nurse or somebody in housekeeping to become an operations manager. Creating those opportunities and those paths for individuals, I think, would make a huge impact."
